As we head into this new season filled with equal doses of hope and uncertainty, we're sharing with you the first entries of our summer single series - nine pieces by composers / pianists ‘made in isolation’ around the world. Running from June 26 - August 28 2020, the collection is deeply shaped by our current situation, with artists primarily working from home or in stripped down settings with the tools and resources available to them. The pieces are intimate, reflective, tender and hopeful, painting a portrait of our shared experience of this moment in history. The series is beautifully set to artwork by Brooklyn based visual artist Mikhail Mishin and mastered by Berlin sound artist / engineer Martyn Heyne.
Featured composers: Hideyuki Hashimoto (Japan) / Julia Gjertsen (Norway) / Jacob David (Denmark) / Peter Broderick (US/UK) / Oliver Patrice Weder (Switzerland/Spain) / Akira Kosemura (Japan) / Tobias Svensson (Sweden/UK) / Pêtr Aleksänder (UK) / Eik Octobre (Denmark)

We are so pleased to announce American composer and producer n-So's new LP Out of the Valley - due out on June 12th ! This record is a profound artistic statement, weaving introspection and quiet moments with cinematic drama ; blurring sounds old and new, acoustic and electronic ; and pushing against the conventions of genre through explorations of novel textures, rhythms and forms. The record accompanies an imaginary protagonist through a metaphysical journey into a deep valley surrounded by impossibly tall mountains, driven to find a path home through uncharted terrain. You can take the plunge with the album's lead single Into the Valley, out now !

A glimpse over the horizon
Tom Adams' ‘Sunrise’ is a piece of solo piano music performed on a six voice analogue synthesizer. Subtle ambiances colour a patient palette dressed with slowly evolving arpeggios and broken chords that oscillate ever so delicately.
Jacob David & Thomas Haahr have collaborated on 'Indfald' - a graceful piece for piano and electronics. Soft piano chords float like a vessel deep in space, where lonely sounds are enhanced by distant ethereal resonances...
Berlin based ambient / cinematic composer Aisling Brouwer has done an inspired rework of Richard Luke's piece ‘Drift’ and it's available now on all digital platforms. Spin away :)
A shot of ambient artist Alaskan Tapes in the Adirondacks from that time before isolation. At the moment he's home just like the rest of us, and it feels so fitting to release his remix of a track called 'Home' by Ed Carlsen. Give it a listen over here
It's Piano Day and we're celebrating with a double feature by UK pianists Tom Adams & Mike Lazarev. You can give both of these a spin now anywhere music is streamed !
Tom Adams spent some time with videographer Alex Kozobolis in a Berlin studio last year and thanks to Alex you can watch the piece's creation…
Daigo Hanada's piano, sitting in his home studio. It's where he recorded his soulful rework of Richard Luke's piece 'Last to Let Go' which you can now stream direct to your home.
Icelandic composer and producer Snorri Hallgrímsson's soundtrack for Mark Waters' feature length documentary Chasing The Present enters the world. His intimate score for piano and strings serves as a reprise from the anxieties and stresses of everyday life and immerse us momentarily in a peaceful & dream-like world.
It brings us so much joy to release new music into the world, especially when it's as fun and downright groovy as BLOMMA's first record. The collaborative project pairs Philip Daniel and Jacob Pavek, two musicians and composers who live 600 kms apart in the American midwest and met true 21st century style: on Instagram. Their friendship blossomed quickly, leaving their heavy-hearted melancholic solo projects behind for more luminous and upbeat territories. Daniel's steady patter of rapid piano patterns are traded and harmonized with Pavek's vintage synths, with everything sitting against a backdrop of slow moving strings and ambient electronics. According to BLOMMA, the end result "sounds like the neon lights shining on a chamber orchestra." The record is out now on all digital platforms, and we'd love for you to give it a spin !
Are we all in some way chasing the present moment?
We're excited to announce the release of our first ever soundtrack : the score for the feature length documentary Chasing the Present by Icelandic composer and producer Snorri Hallgrímsson. Co-produced by Ólafur Arnalds, Hallgrímsson’s stunning score makes use of filtered strings and pianos to emphasize the title character's depression. In the soundtrack's beautiful title track, which is available now on Spotify, the filter opens completely to showcase the mind's enormous potential when it breaks free from perpetual anxiety. The soundtrack drops on Friday March 13th, and is available now from our Bandcamp store.
Yes, we know that we're smack dab in the middle of February. But nothing cures the winter blues like memories of summer, right? See for yourself with BLOMMA's new track August. Philip Daniel's piano glisten against a backdrop of radiant synths courtesy of Jacob Pavek.
We can't believe it's already been 3 1/2 years since the release of Ed Carlsen's first record The Journey Tapes. US based pianists / keyboardists extraordinaire Jacob Pavek & Philip Daniel have teamed up on the new collaborative project BLOMMA.
