Daigo Hanada
Daigo Hanada is a pianist and composer from Tokyo, Japan. We discovered him in 2016, and began working together on the creation of his first full length collection of solo piano pieces entitled Ichiru. Initially released in relative obscurity in February of 2017, the album has grown into a critical and commercial phenomenon, reaching over 70M streams across tracks and charting in Japan’s most played pieces on Spotify in 2019. That year he released the EP Ouka, a set of seven intimate and impressionistic portraits of nature, which resonated significantly with fans and musicians alike. He continued composing over the coming years while simultaneously struggling with a debilitating illness which meant many trips to the hospital and periods of uncertainty. Through the numerous setbacks and challenges, he managed to find hope which he translated in the 13 heart wrenching pieces that make up his 2nd LP ‘Satori’ (2022). The album captures memories and experiences from his struggles, balancing uncertainty and melancholy all the while guiding us toward the light. He closed the year with a rework EP of tracks from Satori, featuring fresh takes on his music by Michael A. Muller (of Balmorhea), Yoko Komatsu, Moshimoss and Amulets.
